Hello Garden Friends!
At Yard To Table, our mission is to empower individuals to cultivate organic food at home. Part of this mission involves sharing information and providing guidance through emails, posts, and more. Unfortunately, I haven't been consistent in doing so lately, and I apologize! This past year, I've dedicated much of my time to designing, installing, and maintaining gardens, which has been fantastic, but it has left me with little time to update my blog, share ideas and recipes, and communicate with all of you.
As a small business owner, I constantly need to be adaptable and prioritize what's important at any given moment. Recently, I've been contemplating where to direct my energy for the upcoming year, and while I will continue my work , one of my priorities will be providing you with more communications to assist you in growing at home. I'm starting with consistently sending out my monthly grow sheets . Stay tuned for more, and thank you for sticking with me!
I hope your summer garden is thriving this month and the tomatoes are finally coming in. My tomatoes are ripening a bit slower due to the cooler summer we've been experiencing, but now that it's warming up, we're finally harvesting some!
Curious about what to plant this month in Marin County? There are still summer crops to plant, along with some fall favorites to get started. Here are a few important reminders for planting in the warmer months:
Ensure your soil in the planting area and your seedlings are moist before planting.
It's best to plant early in the morning or in the evening to avoid the heat of the day.
Water your starts or seeds thoroughly after planting.
Water your new plantings twice a day until they are established, as the root system is small and can dry out quickly in the sun and heat.
During a heatwave, use shade cloth or patio umbrellas to protect your young plants.
I am immensely thankful for the growth of Yard To Table over the past few years. It brings me great joy to witness the growing interest in creating beautiful gardens and cultivating organic food. Thank you so much for your interests in Yard To Table and for supporting my small business.
